extra-curricular activities. Congratulating the students, Justice Baam and Mr.
Rupani exhorted them to continue striving for excellence which is the essence of
success. Both, the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour blessed the students for

Honour.
The Department of Sindhi Literature, University of Bombay held a Seminar on Mar'95 on Development of Sindhi Literature upto Independence at Vidya Nagari Campus. The Seminar was inaugurated by Prof. S. D. Karnik, Vice Chancellor by lighting a lamp. He praised Sindhi's cultural heritage and their hard work. Mr. Gobind Malhi, Chairman, Maharashtra Sindhi Sahitya Academy, presided over the function. The Guests of Honour Dr. Arjan "Shad" and Mr. Nanik Rupani, addressed the august gathering of scholars.
In his address, Mr. Rupani said that Sindhis were always in the forefront, be it in the field of trade, social service or education. He said that he was the first person to encourage the proposal for establishment of Sindhi Bhasha Bhavan and had spontaneously donated RS.1.00 lakh when he learnt about it.
Dr. Yusuf Merchant received Priyadarshni Academy's Special Cash Award of Rs. 51,000/- sponsored by Enkay Telecommunications (I) Pvt. Ltd., for prevention of drug abuse on 26 June'95. Eminent speakers; Guest of Honour Mr. Pramod Navalkar, Minister for Cultural Affairs, Maharashtra and Guest Speakers Justice Lentin, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj Editor of "The Daily", Ms. Poonam Dhillon Thakeria leading film artist and Mr. Nanik Rupani, shared their views on drug abuse and rehabilitation of the victims.
Addressing the audience, Mr. Rupani said that Dr. Merchant who had fought a long and hard battle against drug abuse was presented with Priyadarshni's Award for Prevention of Drug Addiction in 1991 and he had rendered full co-operation to the Anti- Drug Wing of Priyadarshni Academy,
Mr. Krishna Gyan Mandir, Wadala, celebrated a special Janmashtami Programme on 17 August 1995 at the Mandir. Thousands of devotees attended the event, birth of Lord Krishna. On this occasion, Priyadarshni Academy sponsored a Bhajan Programme by Mr. Manhar Udhas and his party.
