NATIONAL INTEGRATION TRROUGH DANCE AND MUSIC

The Priyadarshni Academy and Kishinchand Chellaram College held a programme of classical music under the project "National Integration through Dance and Music" on 20th June, 2003 at 7.00 p.m. at Rama Watumull Auditorium, Mumbai 400 020.

Shri Nanik Rupani, Chairman, Priyadarshni Academy welcomed the Guests of Honour -
Shri Pankaj Udhas and Shri Talat Aziz
, thanking them for their gracious presence at the function.

He expressed his gratitude to Shri Ashok Thadani for the sponsorship of Hargobind Trust for this programme to enable the promotion of fine arts and worthy artistes and Shri Keyur Patel for the sponsorship of the beautiful mementos created for the occasion. Shri Nanik Rupani also thanked the Cultural Committee, Ms. Madhavi Vora and Ms. Jyoti Hinduja who have a deep interest and concern for promoting Indian Fine Arts and artistes.

Guests of Honour, Shri Pankaj Udhas and Shri Talat Aziz appreciated the performances for the evening and congratulated the Academy for starting the project "National Integration through Dance and Music" to promote talented artistes. The Guests of Honour presented the artistes with appreciation mementos.

The Ghazal Maestros delighted the audience as they burst into song with an impromptu duet.

Ms. Manju Nichani Principal Kishinchand Chellaram College who has jointly organized the programme with the Academy said that it is the artistes who bring about the real national integration.

 

Ms. Jyoti Hinduja stated that this project was successful in fulfilling its twofold objectives - to promote versatile talent in Indian Classical Dance and Music and to create greater awareness and deeper interest in our rich heritage.

The programme commenced with Instrumental Jugalbandi by Shri Satish Krishnamurthy and the Hare Krishna Troupe. It was a fitting start with instrumental mastery that echoed the glory of music.

Shri Ranjeet Pathak was the next artiste of the evening. He set the tone with his fine ease of rendition on the Santoor, enthralling the connoisseurs among the audience.

Vocal Hindustani Performer : Ms. Sunita Tikare

Ms. Sunita Tikare created a fine impression with her mellifluous voice in her Vocal performance with profoundly moving and uniquely creative renderings.


The Programme was compered beautifully by Ms. Suhani. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Madhavi Vora, Chairperson, Cultural Committee, Priyadarshni Academy.
